Iconic Food & Drink in Spokane

If you haven’t spent any time going out to eat in Spokane, you need to try some of these spots. Spokane has an excellent food scene and new amazing restaurants are always popping up. These restaurants and bars are our favorites and are some of the most iconic must try places in Spokane. Plus there’s a map of all the best places to eat and drink in Spokane at the end of this post!

1. Have Breakfast in a Historical Railcar at Frank’s Diner

If you haven’t heard of Frank’s Diner – make it your first breakfast stop on your Spokane bucket list. This diner was once a presidential railcar (built in 1906), and in 1931 it was transformed into what you see today. Frank’s Diner is one of the most unique dining experiences in Spokane and a must visit. Just be prepared, it’s a small dining area and can be popular!

2. Get Brunch at Chaps Diner and Bakery

Looking for more of a brunch experience? Chaps Diner and Bakery is one of the best brunch spots in Spokane and I find myself going back again and again. Our friends took us there shortly after we moved here, and I love everything I’ve ever eaten here. Whether you want to try some delicious pastries, a hearty egg breakfast, or their delicious oatmeal (best oatmeal you’ve ever had I promise!) it’s going to be amazing. There might be a line when you get there (the best places always have a line right?) but it goes fast and you won’t regret waiting.

3. Try the Best Breakfast Burrito in Spokane at Taco Vado

Taco Vado is a Spokane staple. If you haven’t had a breakfast burrito from the friendly folks at Taco Vado, you’re not living! We used to live right near Taco Vado and it was a daily battle to not get a tasty adovada breakfast burrito EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Now they’ve expanded their menu and they even have margaritas… if you can’t find me – I’m probably stuffing my face at Taco Vado.

4. Eat the Cutest Mini Donuts at Hello Sugar

Hello Sugar makes the cutest donuts on earth and they started right here in the Lilac City. They have such a fun menu with ever changing flavors, and they even do fun themed menus like Harry Potter (you have to try the butterbeer). Situated along Spokane’s Centennial Trail, you can even stop by on your bike ride or morning walk.

5. Drink an Amazing Cup of Coffee at Indaba Coffee Roasters

There are several places to get a great cup of coffee in Spokane, but I personally love Indaba and recommend it to anyone who asks. They have several locations, and they always have a fun new drink to try from their seasonal menu. While Indaba is a little more hipster than some of the other classic coffee shops in Spokane, I’ve always had delicious coffee here. They roast their own coffee, and the coffee shops all have a cool vibe. The baristas are so friendly, and I’ve had a lot of luck telling them what I like and saying “surprise me!” – no pressure right??

6. Buy some Local Tea at Revival Tea Company

Not a coffee person? That’s okay, we still have you covered. Revival Tea Company is one of the coolest places to hang out in Spokane. They have black tea blends, green tea, white tea, herbal tea, and even tea mocktails. Enjoy your drink in their downtown tasting room with speakeasy vibes, and then take home some tea bags for later. Their tea is all made in Spokane, and they have great deals with buy one get one half off their bulk tea.

7. Eat your Fill of Pizza From the Flying Goat

The Flying Goat is the GOAT of pizza in Spokane, and you’ll definitely want to try this pizza if you’re looking for an amazing pie. We have so many pizzas we love from the Flying Goat, but our favorites are the Fairview, Waikiki, and the D Street Pizza. These amazing thin crust pies are what we think is the best pizza in Spokane. And if you want a deal – they have $5 off every pizza on Mondays.

8. Have a Beer and Giant Pretzel at No-Li Brewhouse

If you’re looking for Spokane’s best brewery – No-Li Brewing has our vote. This brewery makes damn good beer, and they have a fun brewhouse to go along with it. Located right along the Spokane River, they have a fantastic outdoor beer garden, an indoor bier hall, arcade games, and an indoor restaurant with tasty food. You can’t go wrong at No-Li!

9. Sip at one of Spokane’s Best Cocktail Bars

Emma Rue’s is relatively new to Spokane, but has some of the most beautiful decor featuring local artist Hazel Miller. They focus on a concept of coffee, cocktails, and dessert and do all three beautifully. The incredible atmosphere of Emma Rues will make your drink taste that much better.

Another amazing cocktail bar in Spokane is Bijou, an under the radar spot with two Spokane locations. Bijou is another Spokane bar featuring coffee in the morning and cocktails at night. Let me tell you, I’ve never had a cocktail I didn’t love here!

10. Drink Wine with a View at Arbor Crest Wine Cellars

Arbor Crest Wine Cellars at the Cliff House Estate is a winery in Spokane with amazing views. You can enjoy a glass of wine or a tasting while walking around the beautiful grounds. While you sip your wine, you can enjoy the beautiful views of Spokane from above. Note: anyone under 21 (including babies and toddlers) are not allowed for safety reasons.

11. Catch Happy Hour at the Safari Room and Peacock Lounge

The Davenport is a Spokane institution, and walking through or staying at the Historic Davenport is a Spokane bucket list item in itself! I would be remiss to leave out the Safari Room and Peacock Lounge as it’s definitely one of the best places in Spokane to get a cocktail. The Safari Lounge is located inside the Davenport Tower and has fun Safari themed decor as well as delicious cocktails. The Peacock Lounge is located inside the Historic Davenport Hotel and the decor alone is a great reason to stop by for a drink or meal.

Mary Lou’s Milk Bottle is a historic place in Spokane and a must visit (especially with kids). This diner is actually shaped like a giant milk bottle and has delicious milkshakes, burgers, and fries. It’s located in the super fun Garland district and was even featured in Atlas Obscura.

13. Treat Yourself to Tacos from Cochinito Taqueria

Cochinito Taqueria is a must try Spokane restaurant. They serve deliciously crafted tacos in a casual atmosphere with great drinks and friendly staff. You’ll also love the beautiful mural inside. My personal favorite is the pescado tacos and the spicy margaritas! Don’t worry if there is a bit of a line, it’ll go quickly – this place is a well oiled machine.

14. Enjoy Views of the Spokane River While you Dine

Enjoy your dinner with a beautiful view of Spokane Falls at Anthony’s or indulge in a delicious steak or seafood dinner at Clinkerdagger while you take in the view! You can also enjoy views of the Spokane River while dining at Mole in Kendall Yards, or enjoy small bites and a glass of wine from the patio at Nectar, also in Kendall Yards.

Spokane also has a great fine dining scene. For your next special occasion, treat your loved one to a special dinner out at an upscale Spokane restaurant like Wild Sage, Gander and Ryegrass, Inland Pacific Kitchen, or Luna.

If you haven’t visited Wooden City and tried some of their appetizers, you need to run not walk there right now. If you can handle spicy food, their Hungarian wax peppers are to die for. But really if you haven’t visited Wooden City, it’s one of the best restaurants in Spokane. Other places with some of the best appetizers in Spokane are the Gilded Unicorn and Baba.

20. Cool Down with some Ice Cream from The Scoop

The Scoop is the best ice cream in the city of Spokane! They have delicious handcrafted ice cream with fun new flavors every day. They also have several gluten free and dairy free options. If you visit the South Hill location, they even have dole whip. Grab a couple scoops and head over to Manito Park to explore Spokane’s best city park.

21. Find the Perfect Coffee and Work Vibes in Spokane

Have a lot of work to get done, but sick of your boring home office? Check out one of Spokane’s best coffee shops to get some work done. We love Ladder Coffee, and they have the BEST seasonal coffee/tea specials – Lavender matcha I’m looking at you! If you have a sweet tooth, check out Spokane’s best bakery, Rockwood Bakery, for cozy work vibes.

22. Enjoy a Drink with Speakeasy Vibes

Cease and Desist Book Club is one of the coolest bars in Spokane. It’s a speakeasy and cocktail/whiskey bar in downtown Spokane that you don’t want to miss. It’s a little difficult to find, but see if you can locate it (look for a bookcase through the window) and have a fun cocktail with some prohibition era vibes.

Another super cool whiskey bar with speakeasy vibes is Hogwash Whiskey Den. If you love whiskey and a unique atmosphere, check out Hogwash! Located in the basement, just below Inland Pacific Kitchen. You’ll feel like you stepped into another era when you walk down the stairs. In addition to the cool vibes, they have some of the best whiskey cocktails in Spokane.

23. Carb Load with the Best Pasta in Spokane

Italia Trattoria is located in Spokane’s Browne’s Addition. They have mouth watering pasta and an ever changing menu. Also, don’t miss out on their delicious brunch!

If you’re looking for the best pasta that’s ever existed on a happy hour menu, check out Tavolata. Chef Ethan Stowell opened Tavolata in 2021 near Riverfront Park and it’s a must try restaurant in Spokane.

And lastly, Sorella is a new to the scene Italian restaurant that is making a splash. With their chic decor, handmade pasta, and elevated cocktails, you can’t go wrong here.

24. Grab Some Healthy Food to Go for your Next Adventure

Method Juice Cafe is the perfect place to get delicious and healthy quick food in Spokane. They have mouth watering salads, rice bowls, acai bowls, and smoothies. Whether you’re grabbing lunch for work, or taking something for a picnic lunch in the park, you’ll feel like your best self after this meal.

25. Plan a Special Evening at One of the Best Date Night Spots in Spokane

Vieux Carre NOLA Kitchen (pronounced voo-kar-A) will bring you right down South to New Orleans. The authentic Cajun/Creole food is delectable (the bacon wrapped shrimp and grits was *chefs kiss*). Make sure to follow with dessert on your special evening.

Luna is located on Spokane’s South Hill, and celebrated 30 years in Spokane in 2024. They also work with local farms and breweries to bring you fresh and delicious community driven meals. It’s the perfect place to bring your partner for a romantic meal in Spokane.

26. Pick your own Fruit at Green Bluff

If you’re in Spokane, a must try food experience is visiting Green Bluff and picking your own fruit. No matter if you are there for apple picking, strawberry season, cherries, or the plethora of other fruits and vegetables they have – you will love it! Green Bluff is a classic Spokane activity. And once you try that farm fresh fruit, you’ll never want to go back to your grocery store produce again. Check this site to see what’s growing right now!
