Nice to Meet You

Hello! I’m Kayla.

I’m happiest outside – hiking trails, exploring national parks, reading a good book, and sharing it all with my two toddlers and sweet husband!

My husband, Dane, and I both grew up outdoors and we always knew we wanted to raise “outside kids”. I’ve loved traveling for as long as I can remember, and having kids wasn’t about to change that.

Traveling with kids does take more planning (okay… a lot more), so I swapped my old fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants travel style for detailed family-friendly itineraries. I loved the process and started sharing them so other busy families could enjoy amazing trips without the stress or fear that traveling with kids isn’t worth the effort.

When you’re traveling with kids, the stakes are higher. A hike that isn’t truly kid friendly, or a wrong turn can derail the whole day (we know from experience!) I do the hard part, so families can focus on making memories.

These days we’re less about “bagging peaks” and more about finding the best short kid friendly hikes with the biggest payoff. And I truly believe the world is better when kids spend more time outside – which is why I love helping families raise adventurous, curious, and happy kids.

Our page is for parents who want to explore kid-friendly destinations without limiting yourself to theme parks and playgrounds!

We focus on outdoor adventures like state parks, beaches, and especially National Parks through camping, hiking, and free or affordable activities. We are big believers that meaningful travel doesn’t require luxury hotels or all-inclusive resorts.

We’ve been traveling with our kids since our first was 2 months old (hello, Grand Teton National Park), and we haven’t slowed down since. For the past two years, we’ve completed over 52 hikes each year with our kids and we’re doing it again in 2026.

To date, we’ve explored 13 US National Parks, 12 US states, and 4 countries with our kids. Spending time outdoors together has made us better parents and happier humans. And we see the difference when we spend a little too much time inside.
